Frequently Asked Questions!
Square Footage: Main Hall and Right Wing together are approximately 6,000 square feet. The Lounge is a separate room that is approximately 1,000 square feet.
Parking: The parking lot has approximately 100 spaces and 11 handicapped accessible spaces. There is plenty of off-street parking.
Kitchen Equipment and Dining Supplies: No supplies are available. Permittees are responsible for bringing in and clearing out all cooking utensils and dinnerware.
Stage: The performance stage is located in the Mail Hall. It is approximately 900 square feet, and includes curtains, stage lighting, multiple outlets, a podium, and a projector screen. No audio or visual equipment is provided. The stage has two restrooms. Access to the stage is ADA compliant.
Tables and Chairs: Lounge: 50 chairs & 10 eight-foot long rectangular tables. Main Hall/Right Wing: 350 chairs with 30 eight-foot long rectangular tables & 20 sixty-inch round tables

Daily Rental Fees: Top Floor (Main Hall, Right Wing & Lounge): $280 per hour or $1,400 for up to 16 hours Commercial Kitchen and Outside BBQ area: $50 per hour or $250 for up to 16 hours Lounge and Kitchenette: $60.00 per hour or $300 for up to 16 hours • Discount for Non-Profit Organizations with documented non-profit status.
Other Fees: Depending on your event, you may be required to purchase permits at other agencies for additional fees, including but not limited to: ABC License, SLO Police Dept. Permit, Fire Marshall Permit, Security Services, as well as insurance and security guards.
ABC License: Required only if SELLING alcohol or if alcohol is included in ticket price. A full-service meal must be provided when alcohol is sold. For more information, call ABC at 543-7183.
Security Guards: A minimum of one (1) security guard per 100 people in attendance is required to be on-site ½ hour before guests arrive and stay until the end of the event. Three (3) guards are required when alcohol is served and four (4) are required when alcohol is sold.
Noise Restrictions: Please pay close attention to noise levels caused by movement of tables, chairs, and equipment, and minimize noise during daytime hours to avoid disrupting courtroom sessions and after 5:00PM in consideration of the residential neighborhood surrounding the Hall. Police can issue citations if sound can be heard more than 50 feet away from the building.
Set-Up and Cleaning: Set-Up and cleaning must be performed within the designated dates and hours of the Use Permit. There is no “free” time for set-up or cleaning.
Standard of Care: Please exercise caution and care while using the Hall, having regard for the age and condition of the building and equipment. Pick up tables and chairs or use carts when moving items. Do not drag tables, chairs or equipment across floors.
Decorating: Please do not staple, nail, tack, or glue decorations to the ceiling, rafters, walls, painted surfaces, light fixtures, fabrics, or floors, or hang anything from rafters or light fixtures. Painter’s tape is permitted on walls or floors, but no other tape is allowed. All decorations must be flame-proof in accordance with local fire regulations. NO SMOKE OR FOG MACHINES ARE ALLOWED.
Access to Building: The County does not provide a building attendant. A key will be issued to lock and unlock the building, and will be available for pick-up the day before the event at the Central Services Department, 1087 Santa Rosa Street, San Luis Obispo.
Hours of Use: At no time shall use begin before 6:00 AM or extend past 12:00 midnight.
Overtime: All activities, including set-up and cleaning, must occur within the date(s) and hours as designated on the Use Permit. Any unscheduled overtime is charged at twice the hourly rate.
Facility Tour: There is no on-site attendant. Potential renters may schedule a tour of the Hall and ask any questions about set up, cleaning or maintenance by contacting the Rental Office at (805) 781-5900 during normal business hours (8:00AM – 1:00PM Monday through Thursday).
Cleaning/Damage Deposit: A deposit is collected and payable within 1-2 days of reserving the Hall. This fee is refundable provided there are no extra cleaning charges, no damage to the premises, and no other fees or charges incurred by Permittee (such as triggering a fire alarm).
Payment and Document Due Dates: All payments and documents should be received by the County no later than 14 days prior to the function.
Insurance: General liability insurance, including liquor liability if applicable, is required.

Lodging: There are numerous hotels and motels near the facility. The Kinney is across Grand Avenue and Quality Suites is one block away on Monterey Street. The hotels nearest the facility are located on Monterey Street.
Dining Capacity: The Top Floor has a dining capacity of approximately 350. The Lounge can accommodate up to 50 people with limited food and beverages, (e.g., coffee & pastries).
Commercial Kitchen (downstairs): The commercial kitchen includes a large stove, dishwasher, refrigerator and stand-alone freezer. There is no ice machine. Access to Main Hall/Right Wing is provided from an outside stairway
Kitchenette (in Lounge): The kitchenette is located in the Lounge and has a refrigerator with freezer, coffee maker with pots, microwave and sink. No stove or warming trays are available.
