Cancellation Disclaimer
The County reserves the right to cancel any reservation or terminate any permit at its sole discretion when deemed necessary for operational, safety, or facility-related reasons.
Square Footage:
Main Hall and Right Wing together are approximately 6,000 square feet. The Lounge is a separate room that is approximately 1,000 square feet.
Facility Tour:
There is no on-site attendant. Potential renters may schedule a self-guided tour of the building by contacting the Rental Office at (805) 781-5900 during normal business hours (8:00AM to 4:00PM Monday through Friday).
Daily Rental Fees:
Top Floor (Main Hall, Right Wing & Lounge): $420 hourly or $2,090 for the day (7am-Midnight)
Main Hall and Right Wing Only: $340 hourly or $1,700 for the day (7am-Midnight)
Lounge and Kitchennette: $80 hourly or $390 for the day (7am-Midnight)
Kitchen and Outside BBQ area: $65 hourly or $310 for the day (7am-Midnight)
50% Discounts for Non-Profit Organizations with documented non-profit status.
Cleaning/Damage Deposit:
A deposit is collected and payable within 1-2 days of reserving the Vets Hall. This fee is refundable provided there are no extra cleaning charges, no damage to the premises, and no other fees or charges incurred by Permittee (such as triggering a fire alarm or unauthorized use).
Other Fees:
Depending on your event, you may be required to purchase permits at other agencies for additional fees, including but not limited to: ABC License, SLO Police Dept. Permit, Fire Marshall Permit, Security Services, as well as insurance and security guards.
Insurance:

Insurance Coverage:
- General Liability: $2,000,000 per occurrence/$4,000,000 General Aggregate
- Additional Insured Endorsement listing the County as additionally insured to read as follows: "County of San Luis Obispo, its Officers, Agents, and Employees"
- Waiver of Subrogation Endorsement naming the County as follows: "County of San Luis Obispo, its Officers, Agents, and Employees"
- Primary Non-Contributory Endorsement
- Workers Compensation - If you are an organization with employees
- Host Liquor Liability - If alcohol will be served
Security Guards:
Please call the rental office at (805)781-5900 to determine how many security guards your event requires or to see a list of approved providers.
Security guard services shall include but not be limited to one (1) uniformed security guard per 100 people in attendance, with a minimum of 3 security guards for events with over 50 attendees when alcohol is served, and a minimum of 4 guards when alcohol is sold.
Security guard(s) must arrive on Premises ½ hour before guests arrive and remain until the end of the event.
The permittee must provide the County with proof of a contract with the security guard company. This may include a copy of the paid invoice from the security provider.
ABC License:
Required only if SELLING alcohol or if alcohol is included in ticket price. A full-service meal must be provided when alcohol is sold. For more information, call ABC at 543-7183.
Payment and Document Due Dates:
Payment is due one month prior to the reservation. 
All other required items are due two weeks prior to the reservation. 
 
Parking:
The parking lot has approximately 100 spaces and 11 handicapped accessible spaces. There is plenty of off-street parking.
Kitchen Equipment and Dining Supplies:
No supplies are available. Permittees are responsible for bringing in and clearing out all cooking utensils and dinnerware.
Stage:
The performance stage is located in the Mail Hall. It is approximately 900 square feet, and includes curtains, stage lighting, multiple outlets, a podium, and a projector screen. No audio or visual equipment is provided. The stage has two restrooms. Access to the stage is ADA compliant.
Tables and Chairs:
Lounge: 50 chairs & 10 eight-foot long rectangular tables. Main Hall/Right Wing: 350 chairs with 30 eight-foot long rectangular tables & 20 sixty-inch round tables
*The table and chair inventory provided is an approximation. Quantity and quality of tables and chairs is not guaranteed.
Noise Restrictions:
Please pay close attention to noise levels caused by movement of tables, chairs, and equipment, and minimize noise during daytime hours to avoid disrupting courtroom sessions and after 5:00PM in consideration of the residential neighborhood surrounding the Hall. Police can issue citations if sound can be heard more than 50 feet away from the building.
Set-Up and Cleaning:
Set-Up and cleaning must be performed within the designated dates and hours of the Use Permit. There is no “free” time for set-up or cleaning.
Standard of Care:
Please exercise caution and care while using the Hall, having regard for the age and condition of the building and equipment. Pick up tables and chairs or use carts when moving items. Do not drag tables, chairs or equipment across floors.
Decorating:
NO GLITTER, CONFETTI, SMOKE OR FOG MACHINES ARE ALLOWED.
Exhibits and decorations must be approved in writing by County prior to installation. At no time may renter nail, staple, or glue decorations to ceiling, rafters, walls, painted surfaces, fabrics, or floors, or hang anything from rafters or light fixtures. Do not affix anything to doors. Renter may use only painters tape on walls or floors. All decorations must be flameproof in accordance with local fire regulations.
 
 
Access to Building:
The County does not provide a building attendant. Upon full execution of the Use Permit, a four-digit code will be issued for access to the rented areas.
Hours of Use:
At no time shall use begin before 7:00 AM or extend past 12:00 midnight.
Overtime:
All activities, including set-up and cleaning, must occur within the date(s) and hours as designated on the Use Permit. Any unscheduled overtime is charged at twice the hourly rate.
Kitchenette (in Lounge):
The kitchenette is located in the Lounge and has a refrigerator with freezer, coffee maker with pots, microwave and sink. No stove or warming trays are available.
Bottom Floor Kitchen & BBQ
The Bottom Floor Kitchen includes two stoves, one dishwasher, two refrigerators and a stand-alone freezer. There is no ice machine. Access to Main Hall/Right Wing is provided from an outside stairway.
Dining Capacity:
The Top Floor has a dining capacity of approximately 350. The Lounge can accommodate up to 50 people with limited food and beverages, (e.g., coffee & pastries).
Lodging:
There are numerous hotels and motels near the facility. The Kinney is across Grand Avenue and Quality Suites is one block away on Monterey Street. The hotels nearest the facility are located on Monterey Street.
